The Department has phased out its old Programme, BSc Building Technology.

The two new programmes currently on offer at the department are:

  • BSc Construction Technology and Management
  • BSc. Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Requirements for the undergraduate programme include the following;

Candidates must have credits in six subjects at SHS Level including; English Language, Science, and Mathematics, and credits in three elective subjects from the following: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Three credits in Economics, Geography, Mathematics or credits in Technical Drawing, Engineering Science, Building Construction, Mathematics.

MATURE APPLICANTS

Applicants must have attained the age of 30 years at the time of submitting the Application and must possess

Either

  • Five (5) credits at the O’Level; including English Language, Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry.  In addition, candidates must have shown interest in the area of construction.       

OR

  • WASSCE/SSSCE passes in three (3) Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science) plus passes in any three (3) of the following Electives:  Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing and Building Construction. Applicants may be required to pass a qualifying examination which shall form the basis for short-listing of candidates for an interview. Candidates must also pass an interview.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

All courses except Laboratory / Workshop practice Courses are assessed by written papers; the laboratory workshop courses are assessed by practical assignments, written reports or projects.
Graphic Communication Courses are assessed by Studio Programmes and written reports. Research Methods are assessed by both oral and written papers. Integrated Project Course in the final year is assessed by both oral and written reports and practical assignments. To pass out successfully with a degree from the department, one needs a minimum of 151 credit hours, and passes in all the required courses.

Duration: The undergraduate programme is for Four (4) Years.
